Why 1883 ? Krakatau exploded in 1883. The tsunami caused by Krakatau's eruption affected the Ujung Kulon peninsula. It's important to know how the Ujung Kulon looked like before 1883. Judging at the maps below, it must be published after the 1883 eruption, as it shows the smaller size (not the original size) of Rakata Island (Old Krakatau), hence after the eruption.
